由於波蘭計畫於2030年後運轉第一個核電廠, Institute of Fundamental Technological Research 及Institute of Ceramics and Building Materials 測試五種可能用於圍阻體的粒料: 3種重晶石(barites,主成分為硫酸鋇), 一種磁鐵礦(magnetite,主成分為四氧化三鐵), 一種赤鐵礦(hematite, 主要為三氧化二鐵).
研究使用Department of Defense的規範進行加速砂漿棒(AMBT)試驗.
ASTM C1260 的標準為: 14天內小於0.10%
DOD的標準為: 28天小於0.08%
主要結果發現:
Hematitle及一種barite 超過DOD標準, 可能原因在於兩者含10-60 um的微石英結晶, 通常60 um 以上被認為對膨脹的影響不大,130 um以上則無影響.
